WeegeeWeegee (aka Ariane Severin) was born in Frankfurt/Main. She studied fine art, art history and has a MA in Photography (University of Arts, London). In 2014 Ariane went through an artistic transformation and started working on surreal photography-based collages – a process that included changing her artist name to WeegeeWeegee.
Her psycho-geographic artwork is often exhibited in unusual locations such as ‘Souls of the Unrepentant’ in a Victorian underground men’s toilet in London; ‘The Virgins of Palermo’ in the 16th century stucco masterpiece Oratorio di San Lorenzo; ‘The Joys of Eros’ in a notorious nightclub in Frankfurt’s red light district. Her most recent solo exhibitions took place in Nisyros: 'Sailors Adrift' in the Old Thermal Baths, and 'Talismans for the New Millennium' in the Church of Agia Triada.
WeegeeWeegee is based between Frankfurt and Nisyros.
